The Hunts are a family of nine whose performances cover a wide spectrum of
musical genres, ranging from Celtic to country to rock and include a diverse
repertoire of original compositions. Champion fiddling is mixed with a
percussive blend of world-ranked step dancing, drums, djembes, ashikos, and
cajons. Acoustic and electric guitars accompany soaring piano melodies and
beautiful vocal harmonies. This is true family entertainment for all ages.
Individual Bios:
* Jessi (22) and Jenni (22) are identical twins. Jessi’s fast
fiddling and love of music have led her to study music at Old Dominion
University in VA. Jenni, who has been studying photography and web development,
is a wellspring of songwriting and hopes to record all her music eventually.
She also manages
The Hunts Blog. Jessi has a folk style and enjoys adding harmonies to her sister’s more
contemporary style of songwriting.
* Josh (20) is the soft-spoken bass player. He brings an easygoing
personality to the stage. At age 15, Josh had the privilege of representing the
United States in the World Championships of Irish Step Dancing in Glasgow,
Scotland.
* Jonathan (18), songwriter and keyboard player, is always brainstorming
about new songs. This five-time world-ranked Irish step dancer has had the
opportunity to dance in Belfast and Ennis, Ireland and Glasgow, Scotland. His
musical styling is unique, with influences of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Phantom
of the Opera and Electric Light Orchestra.
* Jordan (17), the drummer, has a very energetic and dynamic personality.
Jordan was the first family member who expressed a desire to dance. At age 3 he
asked for a pair of tap shoes and then went on to be the lead dancer for the
family at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg before earning a national ranking for
Irish step dance.
* Justin (15) plays guitar and various hand percussion instruments as
well as the fiddle and is the featured vocalist on “Hearts Held High.”
* JJ (13) competed at age 10 in the World Championships of Irish Step
Dancing in Philadelphia, PA. Justin and JJ enjoy making their own funny home
movies when they’re not playing basketball or “Airsoft”.
* Sandy, or “Mom,” has encouraged and trained the children in music over
the years. In the early years, she led them to perform for hospitals, nursing
homes, talent shows and on to bigger venues. Sandy directs and designs the shows
while also teaching many other children at the
Hunt Family Music Blast summer
camp each year.
* Clint, or “Head Navigator,” loves performing with the fam and feels
that there is no better job in the world than what he is doing. Clint plays
guitar and handles all of the sound needs for the group.
